Residents Unite to Bring Back Fireworks Display

Community group forms to bring back popular 4th of July event.

A grassroots effort to bring back a 4th of July fireworks display started Wednesday evening during a meeting hosted by city and park district officials.

About 20 residents attended the meeting, which focused on possible ways the community can help the popular fireworks display return to Livermore.

Last year's fireworks were canceled due to budget shortfalls for both the and the , officials said. For more information on why the event was cancelled last year or view the attached handout from Wednesday's meeting.

Should the fireworks display return unaltered? Or should it be shortened in an effort to reach fundraising goals? Is the best place to hold the event?

Those are some of the questions the newly formed community group will discuss in its next meeting — scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the , 4444 East Ave. Anyone interested in learning more or joining the community group is encouraged to attend.
