Livermore Toy-Giving Charity Seeks Help

A Livermore man is seeking help to continue his volunteer and charity work supplying toys to children suffering from HIV/AIDS.

Michael "Bart" Bartholomew has helped put smiles on the faces of children suffering from HIV/AIDS by picking up and delivering donated toys.

Bartholomew would like to continue his charity, but his truck used to deliver toys appears to be on its last set of wheels.

The truck's clutch system has given up. And so has the transmission.

But Bartholomew has not given up on his dream to continue delivering toys to children in need.

He has submitted his cause to the Free Charity Cars website. If Bartholomew receives enough votes and donations, he will earn himself a free vehicle to continue his gift-giving charity.

Bartholomew said he lives on a fixed income and cannot afford a new or used truck.

"I don't know what else to tell you except that charity is in my heart to stay," he said. "Without the use of my truck I will lose a huge part of me which I enjoy doing each and every day of the year for those less fortunate than myself."
