Great Escape: Cavallo Point, the Luxury Lodge in Sausalito

Golden Gate lodge offers a welcoming and environmentally responsible experience for visitors.

Long before there was a Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Baker (Horseshoe Cove) was inhabited by the Miwok tribes. The U.S. Army acquired the site for a base to strengthen the Golden Gate’s north side, and the post remained active through World War II. In 1972, Fort Baker was designated for transfer to the National Park Service and in 2002, Fort Baker went from post to park.

Dubbed The Lodge at the Golden Gate, Cavallo Point Lodge, 601 Murray Circle (in Fort Baker), Sausalito, is a luxury stay offering charm and fun for family time or intimate getaways. Sleep over in one of the historic lodgings with impeccably restored guest rooms, spacious living, and the finest amenities. Or take in the San Francisco Bay views with a stay in Cavallo Point’s contemporary lodging where rooms and suites are perched above Fort Baker.

Cavallo Point has an overnight, spa and wellness package, including one night’s accommodations: $300 Healing Arts Center and Spa credit, $30 Tea Bar credit, a morning yoga class, access to the meditation pool and valet parking. Several other relaxing, mid-week specials and day spa treatments are available.
