Daylong Veterans Day Celebration in Livermore Thursday

The annual celebration takes place at Las Positas College and includes a fly-over of a Huey helicopter and the singing of the National Anthem.

From the veterans at Las Positas College-- 

We would be honored if you would join us on our 7th annual, "Honoring Veterans Day at Las Positas College."

It will start at 9:30 AM with a fly over and landing of a Huey helicopter, leading into colors and the signing of the National Anthem by one of our student Veterans.  At 10:30, we start the presentations with a Welcome from our Chabot/Las Positas District Chancellor Jannett Jackson - Retired Colonel, followed by with a overview of OIF/OEF by Instructor Jim Ott.

Our main speaker, is a Marine who trained K-9s.  He served in Iraq. Also there will be a short k-9 demonstration by Officer Grajeda.

Lunch at noon will be a free for Veterans BBQ.  $5 min. donation for non-Veterans. (food, BBQ, drinks, desert provided by Knights of Columbus - Livermore Chapter, Blue Star Moms of Danville, Valley Veterans Foundation, Las Positas College Veterans First Program, and Las Positas College Student Veterans Organization.

  • 1:00 PM - Cake Cutting ceremony - Cake donated by ASLPC
  • 2:00 PM - Take off of the Huey
  • 5:00 PM - Taps performed.
