In 1991, my cousin set me up on a little blind date, 6 hrs from home. When I got to his house, the girl called & cancelled! My cousin wasted no time, grabbed his keys & said, "let's go". He said he had to get me out of the house. So there we were, in Madera, CA one hot August night, listening to Boston's greatest hits, cruisin' around in a black Datsun 280z when it happened: straight out of a movie scene, it seemed like everything was in slow-motion when my eyes locked onto a gal with long, brown hair. She turned in my direction (like I had hoped) & time just seemed to stop when we made eye contact. She had the most beautiful, honest eyes & her face looked so familiar. I must have been smiling like a kid who just woke up to find the best Christmas present imagineable under the tree. She returned the smile as I'm certain hearts floated out of my eyes. My neck was probably contorting unnaturally when I asked my cousin to pull into the gas station. I was a little nervous yet, I just knew somehow. Lots of thoughts raced through my mind as I approached her: This is definitely the girl of my dreams and surely, God has answered my prayers. Please don't let this be a dream! Well, I'm still living that dream. It really happened & it's still happening! We became the best of friends & married within 10 months. We've been together 20 years now & we have one 16 year old son who, at the moment, is in love too... with his guitar. Happy Valentine's Day Dinora. <3 Mike

Maria and Erik Smith. The couple will celebrate their 10-year anniversary this year.
Zach Doss-Eshelman and Amanda Chapman. The two have been best friends for four years and have dated for over two years now. "We met on an airplane to Hawaii in 2008 and have been
inseparable ever since! We've already started our own little family
(us and the dogs) and I can't wait for the day we get hitched!" says Amanda.
Darcel and Dave Weiss. "Dave brings me coffee in bed every morning. Yes, for 26 years. We have been blessed with our 26-year marriage." says Darcel.

All Maria Smith wanted was to ride on a motorcycle and cruise around Hawaii.

Instead she found her soulmate.

"I knew I wanted to go for a ride around the island on a motorcycle with someone but never thought it would be more than that," she said.

Maria, who at the time was on vacation with friends, would flag her future hubby down when she spotted him riding a cruiser.

He slowed down and she jumped onto his bike.

"We spent the rest of my week there together. He showed me all the cool beaches and we got to know each other more," Maria said. "When I left the island we had plans to connect, but realistically I wasn’t sure if that would happen."

Well it did, and this year the couple will celebrate their 10-year anniversary.

Congrats to the Smiths! They have two children and have been Livermore residents since 2007.

I would say none of the above. Marriage is great, but there is more to it than your survey.

Marriage is a great institution, but there is mor to a successful marriage than your survey allows.

@Trevor totally agree. The poll is just a fun little thing and in no way should be taken as the only ways to measure a successful relationship. Thanks to everyone who have shared their photos. Keep them coming!

My husband and I will be together for 13 years in May!  We just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on January 6th.  We met in our Crane Ridge 4-h club in 8th grade.  He asked me out at my middle school(east avenue).  We then both went to Livermore high where he was a football player and I was a cheerleader.  We dated all through high school and our senior year we were voted the couple who would be together at our 10 year high school reunion!  We graduated high school in 2003 and I went to college and he went to work for his fathers company.  He proposed on Christmas eve in the same spot he asked me out in 8th grade (east avenue middle school) : )!  We got married January 6th, 2007,  had our first child January 3rd, 2008 and our second June 23rd, 2010!  We are still happily married and living in Livermore.

I have a picture, but don't see the upload button. I'm
On my phone if that's maybe why?

I met my hubbie on Match.com I was just looking for someone to hang out with and to have a little fun. I was not really looking for a long term relationship. Then one night, he texted me "you want to go to the beach ?" it was 10:00 at night, I had to work the next morning but for some reason it sounded like a great idea. So, we went to Half Moon Bay, walked on the beach, talked and talked, sat my the moonlight and it was all over since then. 7 months later we married. I now am very proud to say that I am married to my best friend who truly knows and understands me. We laugh we cry. We haeve had our health challenges, kicked cancer in the rump and laughed through life.

It took me over 40 years to find the right one, but trust me, it is worth the wait.

My husband took my sister to her Sr. prom!! Joe was my brothers best friend. In 1948 I was with a friend sitting in our popular hangout, Goodman's Drugstore, East Chicago Indiana, waiting for our mutual friends to arrive so we could all go to a movie. Joe walked in and came over to the counter and began talking to me. He asked if I would go to the movies with him? That started our relationship. We married when I was 16 and he 20, in June of 1949. We have been happily married for 62 yrs, have 5 children, 14 grand children and 11 great grandchildren and expecting another in June. AND, we are still on our honeymoon haha.
