Police Seek Help in Finding Vandals Launching Large Rocks at Houses

Police continue to investigate nine cases of vandalism reported early Saturday in the areas of Almond Avenue and Arlene, Charlotte and Felicia ways.

Here's information provided by the Livermore Police Department:

The Livermore Police Department is investigating nine vandalisms that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 18, between the hours of 1 and 2 am. The vandalisms occurred in the areas of Arlene Way, Charlotte Way, Felicia Way, and Almond Avenue.

During the vandalisms, the suspect(s) launched large river rocks resulting in significant property damage. The damaged items include mailboxes, vehicles, and residences.

Investigators believe the suspects are using a launching device to hurl the river rocks. In some instances, the river rocks have traveled through residential windows at dangerous speeds.

In one case, a large river rock went through the front window of a residence and continued across a living room. The rock implanted into the sheetrock of a wall, next to a child’s day crib. Fortunately, no one was injured.

LPD investigators obtained video surveillance from one of the vandalized residences. The video captured the pictured vehicle (see photo attached to this post) leaving the scene.

The Livermore Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating and identifying the suspects in this case. If anyone has information or recognizes the vehicle from the surveillance footage, they are encouraged to call the Livermore Police Department at 925-371-4900.

Can someone take a shot at identifying the make and model of the car shown in the photo, so people can be on the lookout?

Hi Glen,

That vehicle looks like it may be a Toyota Matrix.

How about making a concerted effort to bring back the Gang Task Force?
It seems like a lot of the recent crimes are related to youths with criminal tendencies, that don't feel they anything to fear from the law. If these things are not nipped in the bud we might have much larger problems not too far down the road.

Or does Livermore need a "brat patrol"?

Stupid, irresponsible kids doing very dangerous stuff most likely and if caught, will face some serious charges and damages their parents may be responsible for if they are minors.

That looks like a base Model Ford Flex for sure.

The type of car looks to be owned most likely by Mom and Dad ,so it looks like a case of spoiled kids picking up other spoiled kids and going out late at night, with all involved having no curfew and entertaining themselves with random dangerous vandalism. It stems from giving your adolescence children poor proper upbringing and a total lack of respect for others and what they have worked for and no brains for the posibility of serious bodily injuries as a result of their stupid actions.

Yep. That, and the fact that parents are not allowed to properly discipline their children anymore, because the State has effectively destroyed the family.

So in other words, what you reap is what you sow, and this is a perfect example.

Meanwhile, the cops are over on the other side of town brawling with teenagers (and apparently getting their asses handed to them from the body count).

Like I said, reap what you sow.

The car does not look to be tall enough to be a ford flex. Not a car expert but looks like some kind of wagon, volvo or something like that.
James Buckley - I couldn't agree more!!!

looks kind of like a Ford Explorer, it's too hard to tell with the glare. Could be a Volvo, but looks a little to high for that....

Magnus has a point...parents these days are too loose with their kids...let them do whatever they want. It's a shame too! Someone could've gotten really hurt and someone's baby nearly really did get hurt by whatever was being hurled at these houses!

Sometimes parents can't control what their kids do once they leave the house. I grew up in a strict household and I snuck out of the house while my parents were asleep. So people need to stop always blaming the parents, some aren't aware what's going on...

I live in this neighboorhood and for years have listened to kids wandering the streets in the middle of the night. Vandelisium has been going on for years. I have b-b holes in my house windows and broken windshields in my cars When caught, we need to hold the parents responsible.

My wife asked..how do you "launch" a rock, of this size out of a car window? I can only think of a large sling shot like we used to launch water ballons, But it was very large and took three people to operate, not to mention about 20 sq feet of space. Any one have any ideas?

It's obviously a subaru forester I've asked 4 different people what it looks like without even explaining the backstory to it and they all said the same thing it's an older forrester

Looks more like a 2007 Subaru Outback station wagon. The forward slanting black post behind the second set of doors gives it away.

it was a bunch of kids from Granada, anyone in that area that was vandalized had some sort of LHS sticker or something on.their house or car! Great job Granada parents! Another thing that will go unpunished by a bunch of spoiled brats!

Way to blame Granada! Oh, I forgot all the kids at Livermore are outstanding citizens. Wait, wasn't Dallas from Livermore (arrested two times in one weekend)? people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...am I right?

Our neighbors vehicle was hit, destroying the rear hatch window. They had no identifying stickers. Whom ever did this will be caught. It's just a matter of time. Punk teenagers like this crew can't keep their mouths shut about their exploits. They will brag or hopefully a parent will recognize their vehicle and come forward. LPD has their hands full; budget cuts, domestic violence, assaults, break-ins, and the gang activity has them hopping. time to bring back the Neighborhood Watch in our area.

Someone had to have been out and about around this time who saw clearly who was in the car and what type of car it was either before or after the incident.

I was walking to my friends house early Sunday afternoon for some exercise and I saw a windshield completely smashed out. I knocked on the door to inform them as I hadn't heard this story yet. I felt so sad. It was a retired couple, just living their life quietly with their cute little dog. They were so nice, we talked for about 30 mins. I really hope they catch these kids and they have to pay. I think it is silly to say it was GHS students just because one car had an LHS sticker on it. I went to LHS 11 years ago, the rivalry is between the schools, not the surrounding neighborhoods.
