Does this list seem to be getting longer and more horrific every week? Or is it my imagination ?
What is going on with our city ?
Who ARE these people ????

Not our imagination... I feel the same way that things are out of hand... What does our city counsel and the mayor have to say about the increased police activity in the past six months? I think Livermore Police are understaffed. How about hiring 10 more officers?... Haven't heard a peep out of Steve Sweeney... Hey Steve, how about getting involved in the community... like when you first came to town with your 'mix with the locals" meetings you held for about a month and let the rest of town know what the plan is to address the increased police activity... I used to feel safer... no longer with the shootings, the increased gang activity, home invasions, drug arrests, car break-ins, car thefts, rock hurling, etc... One would think we're living in Oakland.

Could some of the crime be attributed to nearby cities making there last call at midnight..perhaps more people are coming to Livermore to drink and stay for more?

I wonder how much of this stuff was going on before, and we were just oblivious. Is our awareness just way up due to things like Livermore Patch, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

You just nailed in Kevin. Stats don't lie. Crime overall in Livermore is down from previous years, and when you compare Livermore's NCR to the national average, we're WAY below the rest of country, and in fact have less than half (averaged out per 1000 people) the crime rate for most of the tracked crimes.

Chief Sweeney told me last year that crime in town was actually down when compared to previous years. The only difference is that the incidents are now being reported.

I have lived in Livermore for 15 years.......
In the last two or three years the gang activity , the homeless situation and the activity (ie; drug) i see at Carnegie Park has INCREASED ..... Homeless creeps have approached my 4th grade daughter .....and I have witnessed on many occasions drug dealings in the parking lot behind the Ale House ......i see teenagers hanging at the movie theater looking for trouble .
With all due respect ......it's getting worse.

This our problem, we as a people who live in this town. The drinking is not the problem it is the business of drinking. Why is it these adults need to be policed? Grow up and drink like adults. And you businesses stop serving these same people who come to drink and you know they have a drinking problem. The business of serving alcohol should have real regulation. This takes away from our valuable services(police time). Steve Sweeney does and awesome job and so do the rest of this dept., but how many of you are doing your job? How about those businesses do you over serve to same people every day?

"Grow up and drink like adults" what does that mean? If I sell you a gun and you shoot someone is it my fault? Of course not. What about cigarettes and second hand smoke?
It is the drinking that is the problem, especially in the incident off of Rincon; that was a house party, not a party at the Ale House. Bartenders should stop serving the inebriated BUT it is the drunk who has to be responsible for his/her actions.
Sandy, I too see what you are seeing and I find it disturbing as well. At least Livermore finally has a open container law now but I don't know why the groups of adicts living in their cars and RV's are tolerated.

I forgot to add, the people I see wasted walking around are not getting their booze from a bar or restaurant unless they are getting tall cans and 40's to go.

Sean .....those are great points . But there are a couple of bars downtown that do over serve . Seen it firsthand ......and to the WRONG crowd......it's not the Ale House.
And yes,the RVs ...... It's disgusting.
I have to be downtown three days a week and i park back there ....it's just amazing to see the activity that goes on......and I never see the police. Maybe theyre patrolling back there later at night.....I sure hope so.
Thank God the Saffire has closed .....at least it's not FULL ON scary late at night anymore!!

Sapphire stopped being an isse a while ago because they lost a lot of customers, I am sure due to being banned from the bar but I could be wrong. But the issues are not over. Even though Rplace is not right downtown, it is pretty close and they have had issues already too. It is sad because there are responsible people that would like to go out and enjoy friends company being out and not stuck at home, but they are getting to scared to do so.

Regarding the river rock attacks on homes during the late night hours....I personally do not consider them vandalism....I think of them as ASSAULTS and feel they should be treated as such.
